I would have gone with the 916XT, but unfortunately, my car only had a capacity for a class II hitch, so 917XT it was!I lamented for days over the Thule 917XT, Yakima Holdup and Saris Cycle On Pro. All of the racks have disadvantages and advantages depending on your application. I chose the Thule for a bunch of reasons, but the one which made the biggest difference was being able to load/unload different style bikes in seconds(Mountain, Beach, BMX, Larger Children's bikes) without having to adjust the front wheel mount. The Yakima seemed to be a one size fits all with the flip down tire mount which didn't seem to be what I needed for my application given it would be me and one of my kids bikes which range in all different sizes. I liked the Yakima's compact size when folded up, but I also had concerns should the mount wiggle loose and having it damage my car. The Saris Cycle... It is a bit pricey (and this was the cheapest I have found) but the bikes are secure and ride safely. It comes with good locks as well. I love that I can access the back of my vehicle because the mount folds down.Worth the money if you are fond of your bikes, your car or both.
