Four-Bike Hitch Receiver Carrying Capacity
The Thule 9025 Apex four-bike hitch mount carrier is designed for frequent cyclists and/or families that want the stability, and functionality of a hitch receiver carrier that can be left on vehicles when bikes are not loaded without interfering with hatchbacks. The carrier is compatible with 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receivers and has a four-bike carrying capacity managed by its two retractable bike support arms that curve along an arc. The naturally supportive arc design of the bike arms allows for easier bike loading and carrying performance. Thule Hold Fast cradles are installed on the arms. They feature a soft, rubberized cradle with a groove design that accommodates bike cables, cushions bikes and secures them during transport. To provide maximized bike stability, bike arms also feature patented Thule No-Sway cages. No-sway cages are rigid rubberized bike rack components that attach to the lower edge of the bike arm, hanging below the bike cradle (one for each bike). As the top tube of bike frames rest on the carrier arms, the No-Sway cages attach to the vertical tube section of bike frames with included straps. This holds bikes firmly in place without the need of a heavy wheel tray sometimes used on hitch mount carriers. Bikes can be locked to the carrier along the driver's side bike arm with a cable lock (included). The cable is retractable, pulling out of the carrier's mast section when needed, and automatically stowing there when not needed. The carrier itself can be locked to a vehicle hitch receiver using a hitch receiver lock (included).

Access to the Rear of Vehicles
The 9025 Apex ensures easy access to hatchbacks is available through its leaning functionality, and its easy-to-use hitch switch. With a pull of the lower hitch switch -- located at the rear base of the carrier -- the upright mast of the unit leans to the rear of the vehicle. The carrier should be unloaded before it is leaned to the rear to avoid unnecessary strain on cradles and no-sway cages, or damage to bicycles. The upper hitch switch, located at the top rear of the carrier, controls the ability to fold bike arms down into a vertical position when the carrier is not loaded. This minimizes the possibility of driving and parking issues when the empty carrier is left on a vehicle.
Integrated Hitch Pin and Locking Functionality
Another valuable feature of the 9025 Apex four-bike carrier is its integrated hitch pin, referred to as an auto pin. This pin provides the main connection between the carrier's hitch and a vehicle's hitch receiver. The auto pin is spring loaded and built into the stinger section of the carrier, terminating in the carrier's hitch. To install, simply lift the auto pin slightly as the carrier's hitch section enters the vehicle's hitch receiver. The auto pin can then rest and move along the surface of the hitch receiver. and will click into the hitch receiver's pin hole automatically. The carrier's locking knob can then be twisted tight to secure the connection further, and locked into place with the knob's embedded lock (included), securing the carrier to the vehicle.

About Thule
Thule was founded in 1942 by the Thulin family, when Eric Thulin, a true lover of the outdoors, put the Thule name on a pike trap he designed and began to sell in Scandinavia. It wasn't long before he added other practical items to the company's portfolio. By the 1960s, the company began to concentrate on car-related products, including its first roof rack. The Thulin family sold Thule to the publicly listed company Eldon in 1979, and it has continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions ever since. The Thule Group is a world leader in providing transport solutions for an active life.

Thule 9025 Apex 4 Bike Hitch Rack Reviews
7 of 8 people found the following review helpful Updated Thule look, By Art B. (Connecticut, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Thule Apex Bike Rack - 4 Bike (Sports) I purchased my Thule Apex 4 from HumblePower for about $325, it was delivered free. This is a fantastic bike rack easily and securely holds 4 bikes to my Tahoe hitch. The Snug-Tite receiver really does eliminate movement of the rack, and locks the rack to my vehicle. The new Thule No-Sway mechanism prevents my and my kid's bikess from bumping each other and has added rubber bumpers not found on the last generation of Thule hitch racks. Overall I'm happy with this rack, and I am glad I waited for the long overdue new model. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful GREAT Bike Rack, By This review is from: Thule Apex Bike Rack - 4 Bike (Misc.) I purchased this rack after looking at dozens of hitch-mounted racks. Sure glad I waited for this one. It fits my hitch very nicely and there is not any vibration or movement of the rack at 70 MPH with 4 bikes loaded. This rack is very well constructed and should last a long time. I don't think you can find a better high-quality bike rack. Nice Looking and Good Quality Bike Rack, By SD Family of 5 "SD" (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Thule Apex Bike Rack - 4 Bike (Sports) I don't have a lot of experience with bike racks, this being my first, so this review is based solely on my experience with the Thule 9025 and not relative to other bike racks. While bike racks are utilitarian by nature, I also wanted one that would look nice on the back of my new SUV. The Thule 9025 not only looks nice, but it's very well made, feels solid (it's heavy but not overly so), is easy to install, folds easily, and holds my bikes securely. The bikes go on and off fairly easily and quickly. I've only put 3 bikes on it so far (1 adult and 2 kids' bikes), but they fit well and didn't sway. Four bikes might be a challenge, but there seemed to be enough additional space to add one more bike. While more expensive that many other bike racks, I plan to use this for many years to come, so amortizing the cost of the next 10 years made the initial purchase price less of an issue. I have not experienced any issues so far (nor I have though "I wish this had ... or did ....", so I... Read more |
